Here is my story of what I have found over the last few months of research to make money online. I began my endeavour in November 2010 looking at various ways to generate extra income for myself and my family. I didn’t have too much spare time, so I went to the Internet.

I came across various systems such as affiliate marketing, HYIP’s (High Yield Investment Programs), eBay and social media to generate extra income. Each had their own merits and timelines.

One thing I learnt the hard way – you will want to stay away from HYIP’s. Trust me; you will only end up with heartache. However, if you are really set on this scheme; only “through away” the cash that you didn’t need, to a maximum of $50 per HYIP. Read various blogs stating the same under scams. Don’t forget, even transferring the money has a big service charge to and from your account.

Affiliate marketing was and is the way to go for me because I didn’t have a product of my own to sell. ClickBank and PayDotCom are a couple of the bigger companies offering products that you can promote utilizing a website or blog. I did find however that this does take time in promoting. I found various tools such as SEO (Search Engine Optimization), Google AdWords Keyword Tool and many others that help in getting your website and blog to rank better for Internet traffic.

eBay also is a good way to generate quick income, especially if you have things around the house that you do not need or use anymore. You can sell those items on eBay and make a nice amount of cash. What happens after you run out of things to sell from your home, that is the question. I am doing further research with Drop Ship companies that you can setup an account with to promote products that they have in stock. There are many different products you can get at a discount for being a member that in turn you would promote on eBay for a profit and you don’t have to keep the stock. Once you make a sale, the Drop Ship companies will take care of the product and delivery to the customer.

Social media, particularly Facebook and Twitter. There are many companies promoting via Facebook and Twitter and finding a proper method is the hardest part. I have a couple of coaches that I use to streamline my approach to Facebook and Twitter. Did you know that the Fan or Like Page on Facebook can be customized to your business endeavours? Which includes your own logo’s and banners.

In conclusion, I do feel that you can make money online and lots of it, but not necessarily “instantly”. It does take time and you will have to put some work into it. But with the multiple avenues you can utilize, that should not be a problem to make a lot of money.
